DALLAS – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its 2020-21 award winners at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas during the 2021 IWLCA Convention presented by StringKing. Duke women's lacrosse head coach
Kerstin Kimel was recognized for reaching the 300-win milestone 2021 IWLCA Hall of Fame and Honors Banquet Dinner on Thursday.
"It is always inspiring to celebrate the achievements of our membership each year at Convention, especially this year when we are able to meet in person again," said Liz Grote, IWLCA President and head coach at Bowdoin College. "I am continually amazed by the successes of our member coaches and having the opportunity to share their stories and celebrate them publicly is important to the growth of our profession and the sport."
Kimel reached the 300-win threshold on February 7, 2020 in a dominant 20-7 victory over Gardner-Webb in the season opener. She became just the seventh active Division I coach to reach the milestone. She owns a 312-169 record at Duke and 316-177 for her career.
The only head coach in Duke women's lacrosse history, Kimel has led the program from its inception in 1996, molding the Blue Devils into one of the nation's elite teams. In her 26 seasons at the helm, she has guided the Blue Devils to seven national semifinals, four ACC regular season titles, an ACC Tournament Championship and 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
IWLCA Award Winners
12 honorees earned Victory Club recognition for achieving milestone victories during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Seven coaches were recognized for reaching 100 career victories, while two coaches were celebrated for notching 200 career wins, and another three reached the 300-win milestone.
