DURHAM – As the Blue Devils wrap up their fall slate, the Duke women's lacrosse program shines its spotlight on the freshman class, this week featuring
Reilly Traynor.
Traynor comes to Durham from Little Silver, N.J., where she attended Red Bank Catholic. Throughout her time, she accumulated 88 goals, 30 assists, 128 ground balls, 71 draw controls and 57 caused turnovers.
During her senior year, Traynor racked up numerous accolades including US Lacrosse All-American, US Lacrosse Academic All-American, Under Armour All-American Senior Games selection and was featured on
Inside Lacrosse Women's 2021 Recruiting Issue "Players on the Rise".
Apart from Red Bank Catholic, Traynor was a member of the U17 USA Select National Team (2019) and the New Jersey Under Armour All-American Highlight Team (2019 and 2020). She also was a member of the Under Armour All-American New Jersey Command Team, winning the 2018 UA National Championship which was the first and only time a team from New Jersey has won.
Outside of lacrosse, she also lettered three years in both field hockey and track.
Traynor joins seven other Blue Devils in the
freshman class.
Why did you choose Duke?
RT: I chose Duke because of the amazing balance between academics and athletics. The academic opportunities to pursue are unlimited at Duke, and I feel like I can reach my full potential here. The lacrosse team is such a tight knit family with a strong culture that I can't wait to be a part of.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
RT: In 10 years, I see myself working in a job I love in New York City.
Who has had the biggest impact on your life and why?
RT: My parents because they have instilled a strong work ethic in me and have always been very supportive of me.
