DURHAM – The No. 4 Duke men's soccer program (8-1-0, 4-0-0 ACC) plays host to Elon (5-4-1, 2-1-1) in the penultimate non-conference game of the season Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m., in Koskinen Stadium.

The two teams are meeting for the first time since 2019, with the Blue Devils looking to continue its best start as a program since 2004.

Last Time Out
- The Blue Devils improved to 3-0-0 against ranked opponents, defeating No. 14 Louisville, 3-1.
- Sophomore Thorleifur Ulfarsson continued his torrid scoring pace with two more goals in the 33rd and 87th minutes to increase his season total to seven goals and 14 points in five games this season.
- Freshman Shakur Mohammed notched a goal and an assist to record back-to-back multi-point games. Mohammed is now on a four-game point streak.
- Sophomore Peter Stroud registered his second assist of the season, playing an important role in the offense and leading the counterattack on numerous occasions.
- Senior Eliot Hamill was back in action at goalkeeper and made two saves in the win. Hamill allowed his first goal in just over 308 minutes, but helped stifle a potent Cardinal offense.

- The Phoenix are headed back to Durham for the second time this season, after facing Merrimack in a neutral site game in Koskinen on August 27.
- Elon is coming off an in-conference stalemate, drawing with Drexel, 0-0.
- On offense, Jack Edwards leads the team with three goals for six points. Goalkeeper Peter Wentzel has been critical for the Phoenix, going 5-2-1 with 24 saves and a .857 save percentage.
- Head Coach Marc Reeves is set to face the Blue Devils for the third time in his career and recently recorded his 100th head coaching victory in a 1-0 victory over Delaware on Sept. 11.

- The Blue Devils and Phoenix are meeting for the 18th time in a series that began in 1980.
- Duke holds the series lead at 12-2-3 overall.
- The Phoenix took the last meeting between the two teams, winning 3-2 in Elon, N.C. on Oct. 15, 2019.
What to Watch For
- The Blue Devils won their first seven games via a shutout, before allowing its first regulation goal in a 3-1 win over No. 14 Louisville. While falling just shy of a program record for most shutouts to start a season, this seven-game stretch tied the top mark with the 2004 squad.
- Duke has had at least one All-ACC honoree in every season since 1976, including every year of head coach John Kerr's tenure.
- Ulfarsson enters the matchup as the reigning TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week. Ulfarsson earns the first such honor of his collegiate career and second time on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week.
- Senior Eliot Hamill ranks near the top of nearly every major statistic in the country, leading the nation in save percentage (0.935), ranking second in goals against average (0.279) and 10th in shutouts (five). The Scarsdale, N.Y., native also leads the ACC in all those categories.
- With five shutouts this season, Hamill is two away from entering a tie for 11th in the single season shutout rankings.
- The Blue Devils rank sixth in the nation in goal differential, outscoring opponents 20-2 over the first nine games.
- The Blue Devils have gotten plenty of production from the freshman class, with 20 of the team's 55 points (36.4%) coming from them. Mohammed leads the way with eight points, while Barajas has seven, Ruben Mesalles four and Jai Bean one.
- Senior Ian Murphy started the 50th game of his collegiate career against Howard. The Redlands, Calif., native has four goals and seven assists for 15 points in his career, with two assists this season, and has anchored the defense with 4,668 career minutes.
Tuesday will be the second of two 'K9 in Koskinen' nights, where tickets are available for $4 for purchase in-person. Fans and their dogs are required to sit on the east side of the stadium, opposite of the Kennedy Tower press box, where water bowls will be available. All dogs are required to be leashed in Koskinen Stadium and fans are required to sign the waiver in the link provided.Â
