ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Ian Siebers kept his impressive season rolling this weekend at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate as the sophomore finished tied for ninth to lead the Duke men's golf team.
Siebers capped the tournament with a 2-under 70 on Sunday and finished the 54-hole event at the Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course at 7-under 209 for his fourth top-10 in four events this season.
As a team, Duke fired an 8-under 280 in Sunday's final round led by the 4-under 68 from freshman
Luke Sample, and finished the tournament in eighth place at 13-under 851. Pepperdine went wire-to-wire to capture the team title in a tournament-record 42-under par.
The stacked 15-team field featured 10 teams ranked 27th or better, with No. 17 Pepperdine out-pacing No. 9 Texas A&M (-38), No. 16 Wake Forest (-23), No. 21 Tennessee (-22) and No. 4 Stanford (-18) in the top five.
Siebers, who placed 10th or better for the eighth time in 13 career events, birdied three of his final six holes on Sunday to secure the finish. Of his closing stretch, he birdied the par-4 15th hole in each round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
Jumping 14 spots up the leaderboard with his sizzling 68 on Sunday, Sample posted a 4-under 212 for the tournament and was tied for 19th. The New York City native birdied seven holes for the day, including five on the front as he opened with a 4-under 32 before shooting even-par on the back.

Kelly Chinn and senior
Quinn Riley were also in red numbers on Sunday as each shot 1-under 71. Chinn finished in a tie for 37th at even-par 216, while Riley finished 2-over 218 and was tied for 49th. Sophomore
Jimmy Zheng was tied for 59th at 5-over 221 after a 77 on Sunday.
Pepperdine's Joe Highsmith claimed individual medalist honors with his 19-under 197, finishing four strokes clear of the field.
The men's golf team also had three golfers playing individually at the Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro this weekend. Graduate student
Qi wen Wong led the way by placing tied for 33rd at 5-over 221, including his 73 on Sunday.
Freshman
John Peters made a big move over the final 18 holes, firing a 1-under 71 to move 23 spots into a tie for 54th at 10-over 226. Sophomore
Daniel Uranga was tied for 87th at 23-over 239.
This weekend's events marked the end of Duke's fall schedule. The Blue Devils spring schedule resumes in late January at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson.
