DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University field hockey senior
Leah Crouse has been named to the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team for the 2021 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup. Crouse is one of 18 players selected for the upcoming tournament in Potchefstroom, South Africa December 5-16.
Crouse was one of the 15 athletes selected to the World Cup roster who also participated in the Junior Pan American Championship this past August. She was instrumental in the United States capturing bronze, earning a penalty stroke during the shootout in the bronze medal match.
A native of Virginia Beach, Crouse has played 12 games for the Blue Devils this season after missing the first one while with the national team in August. She ranks fourth on the team in scoring, totaling three goals and two assists for eight points.
Earlier this season, Crouse passed the 50-point mark, becoming the 41st Blue Devil to reach the benchmark. With 51 career points to her name, Crouse ranks 39th in Duke scoring history.
"It is quite exciting to take the next step toward our trip to South Africa by announcing our Junior World Cup roster," said head coach Tracey Paul. "We have selected a very talented group, but, as we all know, that is only part of the equation that makes a successful team. Our training camp prior to leaving will allow us to develop the cohesion, culture and spirit necessary to get through the challenges that lie ahead of us in this tournament. I am looking forward to getting this group together again so that we can build on the relationships and hockey that started to develop in Chile."
The Junior USWNT will take part in a pre-tournament holding camp from November 26 to 29 at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. The following day the selected team will depart from Charlotte to make the trip to Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Although the official schedule has not yet been released, all matches of the Junior World Cup will be streamed live on
