How did you get started in rowing?
JA: I started rowing in eighth grade when I attended a Learn to Row camp at my local club.
What is your favorite rowing memory?
JA: My favorite rowing memory is my first trip to the Head of the Charles in 2018. I had never been to such an exciting event with so many fast boats. My 4+ started 71st off the line and we finished 16th overall. The memory I made with my boat that day is one I will never forget.
Why did you choose to row for Duke?
JA: I chose Duke for the motivating team culture, competitive athletics and strong academics that the university and the team offer.
What stuck out to you about the team that made your decision feel right?
JA: When I went on my official visit, I was struck by the simultaneous kindness and positive competitiveness in which the team functioned. The team dynamic was something I admired greatly.
