DURHAM, N.C. – Most of the 2020-21 Duke women's basketball student-athletes returned to campus Sunday as the squad comes together for new Blue Devil head coach
Kara Lawson's first season in Durham, N.C.
The student-athletes arrived at the Washington Duke Inn where they underwent COVID-19 screening and checked into their rooms to begin a mandatory quarantine period. This week, the Blue Devils will have various zoom meetings with sports performance, academics, compliance and the equipment room, along with a hygiene discussion. Duke will also have physicals, biomedical testing, yoga and have individual social distance walking meetings with Lawson.
"I am so excited to be back on campus with my teammates preparing for the year," said redshirt junior
Mikayla Boykin. "It was also very exciting seeing my coaches from a distance as we moved into our respective areas. I can't wait to get started and working with the coaches as I know that they are going to do everything in their power to develop me as a person as well as a player. Lastly, I hope everyone is wearing a mask and staying safe during these times."
The Blue Devils (18-12 in 2019-20) return nine student-athletes from 2019-20, including seniors
Jayda Adams and
Jade Williams. Other returning letterwinners include
Miela Goodchild, Boykin,

"It's nice to see everyone and be back," added Williams. "I'm excited to work with my new coaches and get back on the court with my teammates. I hope everyone is wearing a mask so we can have a season."
