2001 – Women's Golf - Candy Hannemann became the first golfer from Duke to win an NCAA Individual Championship as she carded rounds of 75, 72, 69 and 69 for a four-day ledger of 285. She defeated Arizona's Lorena Ochoa in a playoff to win the title at the El Campeon course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
2007 – Women's Golf – Duke won its fifth overall NCAA Championship and third straight in 2007 as the Blue Devils won the title at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Duke carded rounds of 300, 287, 293 and 290 for a 72-hole total of 1170.
May 26
2006 – Women's Golf – Duke won its fourth NCAA Championship and second straight in 2006 as the Blue Devils shot a four-day ledger of 1,167 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Duke turned in rounds of 297, 292, 287 and 291 for a four-day ledger of 1167.
2009 – Women's Tennis –Duke women's tennis freshman
Mallory Cecil capped off her stellar rookie season in College Station, Texas, defeating Miami's Laura Vallverdu 7-5, 6-4 to win the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship. Cecil is the second player in Duke women's tennis history to win the NCAA individual crown and just the fifth in ACC history.
2012 – Men's Soccer – Duke men's soccer standout and MLS No. 1 overall pick, Andrew Wenger makes his professional debut with the Montreal Impact. Wenger also netted his first career goal in a 3-2 setback Colorado Rapids.
2014 – Men's Lacrosse – Senior
Jordan Wolf tallied two goals and four assists and the Blue Devil defense held off a fourth quarter charge by Notre Dame en route to the program's second consecutive NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship with an 11-9 victory over the Irish. Duke became the first team to win back-to-back titles since Syracuse accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2009. Wolf was named the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player
. Deemer Class, Will Haus, Myles Jones, Kyle Keenan and
Henry Lobb joined him on the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
2015 – Women's Golf – Duke knocked off seventh-seeded Texas Tech, 4-1, to advance to the NCAA Final Four of match play for the first time in program history in Bradenton, Fla.
May 27
2013 – Men's Lacrosse – Duke faceoff specialist
Brendan Fowler won 20-of-28 faceoffs and
Jordan Wolf scored four goals to lead the Blue Devils to the 2013 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship with a 16-10 victory over top-seeded Syracuse. Duke fell behind 5-0 to start the game, but outscored the Orange 12-1 to grab a 13-7 lead with 10:47 left in the fourth quarter en route to the six-goal victory.
May 28
2018 – Men's Golf – Duke finished in second place in stroke play at NCAA Championship to mark the program's best finish. Advancing to match play, Duke beat Texas, 3-2, before falling to Alabama in the match play semifinals.
Chandler Eaton's even-par score of 288 led the Blue Devils in stroke play, who finished +8 -- eight strokes back of eventual National Champion Oklahoma State on its home course of Karsten Creek in Stillwater.
May 29
1998 – Women's Tennis – Duke women's tennis player
Vanessa Webb became Duke's first women's tennis champion in South Bend, Ind., defeating Stanford's Ania Bleszynski 6-3, 6-4 to claim the title. Webb became the first player outside of the Pac 10 and Southern Conference to win the singles title since its inception in 1982.
2010 – Men's Lacrosse – Max Quinzani delivered the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining as the Blue Devils upset top-ranked Virginia, 14-13, in front of 44,389 fans at the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Semifinals at M&T Bank Stadium.
Ned Crotty provided the game-winning assist. Quinzani finished with four goals while
Justin Turri tied a career high with three scores on the night.
May 30
2001 – Men's Basketball – In his first year eligible, head men's basketball
Mike Krzyzewski was selected on this date to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, for which he called it "the ultimate (professional) honor." Duke was then just two months removed from the program's third (of now five) National Championships when Coach K received the Hall of Fame nod. He was inducted again to the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2010 as part of the collective induction of USA Basketball's "Dream Team," for which he coached.
2007 – Men's Lacrosse – Matt Danowski was the recipient of the 2007 Tewaaraton Trophy, an honor presented annually to the top men's lacrosse player in the nation. He was the first Blue Devil to capture the prestigious award. In 2007, Danowski registered an ACC single-season record 96 total points on 44 goals and 52 assists. His point total, which led the nation, broke the 44-year old ACC single-season record of 93 set by Maryland's Ray Altman in 1963.
May 31
2010 – Men's Lacrosse – Sophomore
CJ Costabile scored the game-winning goal five seconds into overtime to give Duke its first NCAA Men's Lacrosse Title in program history. Winning the opening faceoff, the longstick midfielder raced down the middle of the field, dodged several Notre Dame defensemen and unleashed a high shot into the net to lift the No. 5 seed Blue Devils to the 6-5 overtime victory in front of 37,126 fans at M&T Bank Stadium.
