Senior Suzanne Dolan wrapped up her four years in Durham as a crucial member of the Duke swimming and diving team. The Arlington, Va., native was a sprinter for the Blue Devils before her career was cut short due to a shoulder injury midway through her junior year. After graduation, Dolan will be heading to The Lone Star State to work for Fortitude Systems. Hear from Dolan about her time at Duke below…
Q: What is your favorite moment in the pool at Duke?
Dolan: Freshman year beating, UNC for the first time in school history!
Q: What legacy do you want to have on the Duke swimming and diving team?
Dolan: Throughout my time at Duke, I tried to give as much to the team as I could. In and out of the pool. To be intentional and where my feet were, regardless of the role I was currently in. Hopefully these characteristics will come across in the legacy that I am leaving behind.
Q: What is your favorite memory out of the pool at Duke?
Dolan: I would have to say that my favorite memory outside of the pool at Duke would be one of the LDOC's that Duke has put on for us. It just so much fun having every year end with our whole campus celebrating together, with a concert that is right outside our doors!
Q: What was your favorite workout at Duke?
Dolan: Freshman year training trip with the sprint group. It was so much fun!
Q: What's next after Duke?
Dolan: I was recently hired at a company called Fortitude Systems. This coming year, I will be entering a training program in Dallas, TX. From there I will be a part of their rotational program where I shadow different people at a variety of offices and figure out where I want to build up my client base. I am so excited to start working!
Some of Dolan's favorites…
Q: Professional athlete?
Dolan: I think that there are so many amazing professional athletes out there that are so inspiring, but I just recently watched Bethany Hamilton's new documentary and she is just amazing!
Q: Meal?
Dolan: As of this year, I would have to go with chicken fried rice.
Q: Sweet treat?
Dolan: Brownies! But in Durham, definitely Goodberrys!!
Q: Sport other than swimming?
Dolan: I have always loved tennis and volleyball! Shoulders pending, I would love to get back into it.
