1992 – Men's Basketball – Duke beat Michigan, 71-51, in front of a record crowd of 50,379 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis to join UCLA as the only teams to repeat as national champions. The Blue Devils (34-2) became the first team since Indiana in 1976 to stay No. 1 from the preseason ranking through the postseason tournament. Bobby Hurley was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
2015 – Men's Basketball – Duke captured the program's fifth NCAA Championship with a 68-63 win over Wisconsin in Indianapolis – also the site of the Blue Devils' 1991 and 2010 national crowns. Tyus Jones was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player after scoring a game-high 23 points in the championship game, shooting 7-of-13 from the floor and converting all seven of his free throw attempts. Coach K's fifth national title moved him past Adolph Rupp for second-most all-time.
April 7
2018 – Men's Lacrosse – Duke held No. 10 Notre Dame without a goal in the second half and six different Blue Devils scored in an 8-2 win at a sold-out Arlotta Stadium. The two goals allowed by the Blue Devils mark the fewest a Duke team had let in in an ACC game since beating Virginia, 17-2, in 2005. Notre Dame scored first, but the Blue Devils responded with four unanswered and cruised to the 8-2 victory. Guterding and Sean Lowrie had a game-high two goals and Duke's defense held the Irish to just six shots on frame. The Blue Devil defense forced Notre Dame into 16 turnovers in the lopsided victory.
April 8
2015 – Men's Golf – Former Blue Devil Kevin Streelman beat Camilo Villegas on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the 2015 Masters Par 3 Tournament on the last day to relax at Augusta National. Streelman and Villegas finished the nine holes tied at 5 under. They each opened with a par then a birdie before Streelman topped Villegas, who had not one, but two holes-in-one through his first eight holes.
April 9
2004 – Women's Basketball – Duke's Alana Beard won the inaugural women's John R. Wooden Award given to college basketball's top college basketball player on April 9, 2004. Beard, a three-time All-America, led the Blue Devils to a 30-4 record and the No. 1 ranking in the 2003-04 final Associated Press poll. She averaged 19.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists, received the Wooden Award in a ceremony at the California Yacht Club.
"It's John Wooden, he's such an incredible person, he's a legend in our game," Beard said. "To be mentioned in the same breath as this man, I can't even put into words. To be the first woman to receive this award is so special to me."
2009 – Women's Basketball – Chante Black became the sixth first-round WNBA Draft selection from Duke at the NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, N.J., as she was selected with the 10th overall pick by the Connecticut Sun. Along with Black, Blue Devil teammate Abby Waner was selected with the 21st overall pick in the second round by the New York Liberty. Black and Waner became the 12th and 13th Duke players to be taken in a WNBA Draft since 1999.
April 11
2011 – Women's Basketball – Three Duke women's basketball student-athletes -- Jasmine Thomas, Karima Christmas and Krystal Thomas -- were selected in the 2011 WNBA Draft on April 11, 2011, which was held at the ESPN Headquarters in Bristol, Conn. Jasmine Thomas was selected in the first round with the 12th overall pick to the Seattle Storm, while Christmas was taken in the second round with the 23rd pick to the Washington Mystics and Krystal Thomas was taken with the 36th selection to the Seattle Storm in the third round. It marked the second time in school history the Blue Devils have registered three players taken in the WNBA Draft as in 2006 Monique Currie, Mistie Bass and Jessica Foley were picked. Duke was the only school with three selections in the 2011 draft.
"(The selection announcement) made my heart kind of start racing," said Thomas. "Just the anticipation of finding out where I was going to be was pretty nerve-wracking. It was just exciting and relieving to finally hear my name."
April 12
2018 – Women's Basketball – For the fifth time in eight seasons, Duke women's basketball featured a WNBA first-round selection as Blue Devil fifth-year senior Lexie Brown was taken with the ninth overall selection by the Connecticut Sun at the Nike New York Headquarters. Duke fifth-year senior Rebecca Greenwell was also selected with the seventh pick in the third round by the Washington Mystics. Overall, Brown became Duke's 11th WNBA first-round selection in school history and it marked the eighth time the Blue Devils have featured two or more draft picks in the same season.
"Honestly, finally," said Brown. "It was a relief. Waiting out there was nerve-racking. Having my family by my side definitely helped. To have my name called is like my dreams are coming true. I wanted to cry, but my makeup, so I didn't."
2019 – Men's Basketball – Zion Williamson was named the 2019 winner of the John R. Wooden Player of the Year, sweeping the six major Player of the Year Awards recognized by the NCAA for the 2019 season: the Wooden, Naismith, NABC, Oscar Robertson, AP and Basketball Times. He was the first to sweep the six awards since Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky in 2015, and the 21st player nationally to do so since 1982. The Blue Devils have accounted for four of the occurrences with Williamson (2019), J.J. Redick (2006), Jason Williams (2002) and Christian Laettner (1992).
