Rookie attackman
Dyson Williams was on his way to having one of the best offensive rookie seasons in program history. He was close to being on pace to break Justin Guterding's rookie goals record and had an incredible seven goals in an overtime win over Richmond – the first attackman to do so since Zack Greer. Williams had 25 goals and 30 points before the season came to an abrupt close with Duke sporting a 6-2 overall record.
Williams and the Blue Devils finished the semester Wednesday and are preparing for final exams. The Whitby, Ontario native checks in on how his days look back home over the past past month.

GoDuke.com: What does a "normal" day look like for you currently?
Dyson Williams: A normal day in quarantine for me consists of online classes on Zoom, homework, working out, playing wall-ball, team meetings, and spending lots of time with my family. Most nights we will watch a movie or play cards.
GD: Do you sense your experience in the Toronto area with social distancing and the restrictions are different than your teammates in the U.S.?
DW: I think our situation is similar to most of my teammates in the U.S, however the weather down south is definitely a lot nicer than up here in Canada. Just like Cam had said, it has been snowing on and off recently.
GD: How has the team been staying in contact while being off campus? And how fun are the zoom meetings you've been having?
DW: We have been having daily zoom meetings during the weekdays, which have been a great way to keep in touch with each other and see what everyone is up to during these tough times. We have been lucky enough to have some incredible guest speakers join us in our team meetings on zoom. It's definitely tough that we aren't together in Durham, grinding in the weight room and on the field, but we enjoy talking on zoom and spending time with each other that way.
GD: How have you been able to continue to work on your lacrosse game and or fitness during this time?
DW: I have been able to make use of the equipment I have at home to keep a consistent workout schedule, as well as going on runs to keep in good shape. For my lacrosse game, I have kept my stick in my hands as much as I can by going to play wall ball and getting some shooting in.
GD: Have you picked up any new hobbies or done anything fun with the family?
DW: We have enjoyed watching movies together as well as re-watching some big games including the 2010 and 2014 Duke Lacrosse National Championships. We are a very competitive family, so we have been playing a lot of cards, ping-pong, darts, etc. Having some competition at home definitely helps make quarantine more enjoyable.
GD: What do you miss most about being on campus?
DW: Without a doubt I miss being with all of my teammates. I am lucky to be on a team with such a great group of guys who makes grinding in the weight room and on the field every day so enjoyable.
GD: Do you have a moment from your rookie season that really stands out?
DW: Travelling to High Point and getting our first win of the season was a day I will never forget. Also, that overtime win against Richmond was our first win on Koskinen, which was an unforgettable experience.
GD: What have been the go-to weekend activities for yourself and the family?
DW: On the weekend we have spent a lot of quality time having fun and relaxing together. Being home with my family has made these tough times a lot easier.
