DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving head coach
Dan Colella has announced the addition of graduate transfer
Mia Bullock, who will enroll at Duke University and compete for the Blue Devils in 2020-21.
Â
"We are very fortunate to have Mia Bullock joining us this fall," Colella said. "Mia has a wealth of championship experience at the collegiate level and will bring valuable maturity to our program. Her results this spring will make her a competitor within the ACC and the NCAA level immediately. We are looking forward to her contributions on all fronts of the program."
Â
Bullock, a native of Westport, Conn., arrives in Durham after a stellar career at Fordham University. The butterfly, breaststroke and sprint freestyle specialist was most recently named the Atlantic 10 Conference Most Outstanding Performer after winning the 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly at the conference Championships. In addition, Bullock was a member of the first-place winning 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 400 medley relays.
Â
"I knew that Duke was a place I would want to continue my academic and swimming careers," Bullock said. "The unique academic curriculum and outstanding faculty are what drew me to Fuqua. Their swim team is very family-team oriented. After the first conversation I had with coach Dan Collela, I knew Duke was the right swimming program for me to continue my final year of eligibility. I could not be more excited to be a Blue Devil!"
Â
She leaves Bronx, N.Y. holding the school record in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.50), 100 butterfly (53.03) and 200 butterfly (1:57.60) in addition to contributing on two record-setting relays, the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.84) and 400 medley relay (3:40.20). Bullock's performances in the 100 and 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relays also set Atlantic 10 conference records.
Â
Bullock will earn her degree from Fordam and enroll in graduate school at Duke with one year of eligibility remaining. She did not compete in 2018-19, her junior year, due to injury.
