DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's track & field/cross country team is proud to announce five additions to the 2020 recruiting class that will compete in distance events for the Blue Devils.
"I am very excited about the class we have been able to bring to Duke," head cross country coach
Rhonda Riley said. "This class is made up of hard working individuals who are talented and driven to succeed. They fit in nicely with the group we have and will bring a great amount of depth to the squad."
The group of signees includes Francesca Cetta, a native of Potomac, Md., who competes for Holton Arms High School. Cetta ran a personal-best time of 2:16 in the 800m, and clocked a 1600m time of five minutes flat.
Kaimei Gescuk will be coming to Durham from Belmont, Calif., where she attends Carlmont High School. Gescuk's personal records include a 5:00 time in the 1600m and a 3200m mark of 10:32. She will also compete in the fall for the cross country team, and looks to improve on a 5000m-best time of 17:56 set in her junior year.
Another recruit set to be a part of both the cross country and track & field squads is Victoria Patterson. Patterson hails from Greenville, S.C, and runs for Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass. She has set PR's in the mile (4:50) – which would rank as the third-fastest by a Duke runner this indoor season – and 3000m (9:48). Her best cross-country time came as a 5000m time of 17:27.
Charlotte Tomkinson joins the Blue Devil family from Menlo High School in San Carlos, Calif. Tomkinson clocked in a personal-best 2:09.41 in the 800m to place second at the California State Championships and won her second of the Woodbridge Classic with a time of 17:25.20 in the three-mile to help her team secure first place.
Rounding out the group is Kelli Wilson, a native of Danville, Calif., who attends and competes for Monte Vista High School. Wilson brings impressive top-marks in the 1600m (4:59) and 3200m (10:31), while her cross-country PR in the 5000m stands at 18:05.
