"I am heartbroken that our 2020 team could not continue with what was a very promising season," head coach
Kerstin Kimel said in a previous statement. "The culmination of hard work that started last summer, was coming to fruition through our performances on the field.
"From the hours of conditioning, lifting, boxing and practice to time spent together developing our identity and mindset, to nurturing our team culture and becoming more mindful in our lives as Duke student-athletes, I could not be more proud of the work and investment from this group."
The Blue Devils fluctuated between 18-23 throughout the 2020 season and finished 6-3 overall and 1-1 in ACC play. Duke was on pace for a solid year through the first half of its season, ranking in the top-10 nationally in scoring offense, points per game, caused turnovers and draw controls.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Atlantic Coast Conference and Duke University canceled all athletic activities for the remaining 2019-20 academic year.
