ATHENS, Ga. – The Duke swimming and diving team wrapped up its time at the Bulldog Invitational NCAA Qualifying Meet on Sunday in Athens, Ga.
The Blue Devils recorded 10 career-best swims in the last day of competition.
A trio of Blue Devils set career-best times in the 100 freestyle. Freshmen
Nat Ong,
Olivia Tighe and
Alex Bumpas all set the best times of their career in their last meet of 2020. Ong led the side with a 50.53 as Tighe and Bumpas clocked a 50.59 and 51.37, respectively.
The 200 breaststroke brought two more career best times.
Will Tenpas swam a 2:03.23 and
Nick Viers touched in 2:03.42. Tenpas also swam a career best in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 1:54.76.
In the distance free events,
Matthew Knox swam the 500 free in 4:28.30, a career best, and
Shae Nicolaisen notched her career-best time of 17:03.71 in the 1,650 free. Nicolaisen also clocked a 1:51.59 in the 200 free for a career best.
Kevin Repice finished up the Blue Devils' record-breaking day as he finished the 200 butterfly in 1:51.50.
Having concluded the regular season and conference championships, the Blue Devils await the release of the 2020 NCAA Invite times to see who will represent Duke at the 2020 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships later in March.
