DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's tennis dropped its first match of the 2020 dual season, falling 6-1 to No. 17 Tennessee on Friday night in the Sheffield Tennis Center.
The Blue Devils moved to 7-1 on the season while the Volunteers improved to 10-1.
Duke started the match on a high note as No. 6
Nick Stachowiak and
Sean Sculley rolled past Pat Harper and Giles Hussey on the top court.
Spencer Furman and
Luca Keist secured the doubles point for the Blue Devils with a 6-3 victory on court two.
Heading into singles action with a 1-0 advantage, Duke picked up four first-set wins. All six courts would go into three sets where Tennessee ultimately had the edge, winning all six singles points. Â
The Blue Devils return to action in Sheffield on Sunday afternoon with Kentucky at 1 p.m., followed by NC Central at 6 p.m.
