GAMEDAY DETAILS
- Faceoff Saturday is set for 12 p.m., at Vert Stadium. The game will be broadcast on the ESPN+ platform. Those who want to watch the game will need to subscribe to ESPN+ - a $.499 monthly charge. - Those attending the game can park behind the stadium off Panther Drive. There is additional fan parking off Lexington Avenue as well. Tickets are $5 and all are general admission.
SETTING THE SCENE
- Duke looks to rebound after a hard-fought 14-13 loss to Air Force this past Saturday. The Blue Devils haven't lost consecutive games to start their season since 1981.
- Head coach John Danowski is in his 14th season as the leader of the Blue Devils and has the most victories of any Division I coach with 412.
- Saturday's game is the first of three straight away from Koskinen Stadium.
THE SERIES HISTORY
- Duke and High Point meet for the seventh straight season and for just the second time at Vert Stadium. The Blue Devils are 5-1 against the Panthers, with the lone loss coming last season in Durham.
- The Blue Devils have won by an average of just over 10 goals in the five victories, scoring at least 16 goals in four of them.

LAST TIME OUT
- Air Force used a strong fourth quarter to post a comeback 14-13 victory over the Blue Devils last Saturday. Duke led 6-1 at one point and held the lead for nearly 53 minutes, but a late push from the Falcons gave them their third victory in four meetings over the Blue Devils.
- Air Force also won the season opener over Duke in 2017, another one-goal victory at 11-10. It was just the third season-opening loss since 2007.
- In 2013, Duke lost to Denver before eventually going onto the NCAA Championship. The other loss was in 2017 to Air Force. Duke ended that year with a 13-5 record, losing in the NCAA quarterfinal.
BLUE DEVIL FIRSTS
- There was a collection of firsts for a host of Blue Devils this past Saturday. Freshman Kenny Brower and sophomore Frank Marinello both made their first career starts on defense and rookie Dyson Williams started on attack.
- Three Blue Devils notched their first career goals – Owen Caputo, Joe Stein and Dyson Williams. Caputo also registered his first multiple-point game with a goal and three assists for four points.
- Cameron Badour, in his second year of action, posted his first career assist, tossing a helper to Caputo.
LAST TIME WE MET
- High Point goaltender Tim Troutner Jr. made 19 saves and the Panthers outscored Duke 7-3 in the fourth quarter to upset the Blue Devils 13-9 in Duke's 2019 home opener.
- Joey Manown had a team-best four goals and five points for Duke. Asher Nolting had two goals and three assists and Chris Young tossed in four goals.
- In goal, Turner Uppgren made 10 saves, including six in the first quarter. Brian Smyth was 13-of-25 at the faceoff and picked up six ground balls.
LOOKING AT DUKE
- Duke dropped to 10th in the USILA poll this week following the setback to Air Force. The Blue Devils come in at No. 13 in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings.
- Senior captain Joey Manown headlined the offense this past weekend with three goals and two assists, while CJ Carpenter tossed in two goals and two assists. Owen Caputo had a goal and three assists and Cameron Badour also had a hat trick. Duke fired off 47 shots, with 30 of them being on goal.
- Defensively, Duke allowed 14 goals, the most goals it has allowed in a game since a 14-11 loss in the 2018 ACC Tournament. Since 2007, Duke has allowed 14-plus goals just 30 times. JT Giles-Harris is the anchor on defense and mentoring rookie Kenny Brower and sophomore Frank Marinello, who played in three games in 2019.
- Duke will look to Jordan Ginder and Joe Stein for the faceoff duties this season. The combined for a 70-percent win rate and 11 ground balls last weekend.
- Turner Uppgren is between the pipes for the second consecutive season. He had eight saves last weekend.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE
- High Point opens its 2020 home schedule after losing at No. 4 Maryland 23-12. The Panthers are slated to finish second in the Southern Conference behind Richmond.
- Asher Nolting, a preseason All-America pick, is the offensive leader with 162 career points. He had a goal and three assists versus Maryland and has scored a point in all 31 games of his career. Tyler Hendricks registered a hat trick last weekend and six other Panthers got on the goal scoring chart.
- The Panthers returned 89 percent of their defense from a year ago. Chris Price led the team with 19 caused turnovers a year ago. Clayton Krol is back after a solid rookie season with 16 caused turnovers.
- Davis Sampere will handle the majority of faceoffs, going 12-of-27 last weekend and picking up seven ground balls. In goal, Parker Green takes over for the talented Tim Troutner. Green made 20 saves in his starting debut against the Terrapins, who fired 66 shots in the game.

- Duke makes the trip west to take on No. 9 Denver Feb. 15 at Peter Barton Stadium. Faceoff is at 2 p.m. (ET) against the Pioneers.
