DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team will return to the Bull City to host the annual Duke Meet Saturday and Sunday in Card Gymnasium. Both days of competition will kick off at 8 a.m., with the final round at 4:30 p.m.
Both days of competition will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra via WatchESPN.
The 10th-ranked Duke men are slated to take on Brandeis, Johns Hopkins, MIT, No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 4 Penn State while the women will battle Brandeis, MIT, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 6 Penn State and No. 5 Temple. Duke's matchup with Notre Dame marks the first ACC opponent for the Blue Devils this season.
With three meets in the books, the Duke men are 11-6, while the women own a 9-8 ledger.
The men are led by senior and co-captain
Eoin Gronningsater (foil) with 31 victories so far this season, followed by
Danny Campbell III (epee) and
Agoston Walter (saber) with 30 each. Epeeist
Kevin Chao also owns 29 wins, highlighted by his 17-4 performance last weekend at the Northwestern Duals.
Spearheading the women's contingent is
Alex Gorman (saber) with 29 wins followed by
Huda Aldadah (epee) and
Julia Gianneschi (foil) with 26. Gianneschi was tabbed ACC Fencer of the Week following her season opening performance at the Penn State Duals.
Accessible parking for guests with disabilities will be located in the Whitford Lot on Whitford Drive with no charge to park. Guests can find general public parking on a first-come, first-serve basis at both the Whitford Lot (GPS Address: 110 Whitford Drive) and Grounds Lot (GPS Address: 110 Frank Bassett Drive). All guests should access the Grounds Lot via Frank Bassett Drive located off Science Drive. Both general public parking lots will be open beginning at 6:00 AM. Parking is free for guests.
