DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked Duke women's tennis team will return to Bull City to kick off a seven-game homestand Friday, Feb. 28 for a 6 p.m., match versus Virginia Tech. Following Friday's contest, the Blue Devils will host non-conference opponent William & Mary Sunday at noon.
Friday's contest against the Hokies will be a Royal Blue Match.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke is coming off two dominant performances on the road last weekend to kick off the ACC slate, blanking Boston College (4-0) and No. 25 Syracuse (7-0).
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
The Blue Devils lead the series 23-2 against the Hokies with their last meeting resulting in a 5-2 win in Blacksburg in March.
Virginia Tech is 7-3 overall and are still in search of its first conference win (0-3). Last weekend, the Hokies fell to No. 27 Miami (7-0) and Notre Dame (5-2) on the road.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE TRIBE
In the series versus William & Mary, Duke owns a 26-6 advantage over the Tribe. The two haven't met since 2017 when Duke claimed a dominating 4-0 win in Sheffield.
The Tribe is 5-3 overall and most recently fell in a close battle to No. 21 Wisconsin (4-2) over the weekend in Williamsburg.
STRONG IN THE RANKINGS
Duke jumped up three spots in the latest ITA team rankings to seventh after their ACC opening weekend.
Margaryta Bilokin,
Kelly Chen and
Meible Chi all posted undefeated singles and doubles records in rout of their opponents.
In addition to the team rankings, the Blue Devils feature several in the singles and doubles polls.
Chen headlines the rankings at No. 7, followed by freshman
Chloe Beck (No. 30), Bilokin (No. 48) and Chi (No. 80). In doubles, Beck and Chi hold the No. 44 spot despite not seeing action together so far this spring.
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, Duke will continue its homestand Friday, March 13 versus Notre Dame and Sunday, March 15 against Clemson.
