GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke men's swimming and diving program opened the first day of the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatics Center (GAC).
After the first day of competition, the men are in seventh with 182 points.
With diving complete, Duke entered this week in seventh place with 102 points. Only two events were scheduled for Wednesday night, the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
In the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay,
Nathaniel Hartley,
Cole Reznick,
Charlie Gingrich and
Miles Williams swam a season-best 1:26.34 to place ninth in the event. The time was also the eighth best performance in Duke history.
Duke's quartet of Williams,
Sheldon Boboff, Hartley and
David Hallaron dropped over five seconds off their entry time to finish in 6:25.22, the second fastest time in Blue Devil lure, and place ninth.
The Blue Devils will compete in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay tomorrow for day two of the championships. The evening action will begin at 6 p.m., at the GAC in Greensboro, N.C.
