1985 – Men's Soccer – For the third time in four years a Blue Devil took home the Hermann Award back to Durham as senior Tom Kain captured the top honor in men's college soccer.
"It's an award they give to one player, but I share it with all the players on the team," Kain said. "I won the award, but the guys on the team know I couldn't have done it without them," Kain told the Duke Chronicle.
The only four-time All-American in Duke history, Kain won over Michael Brady of NCAA finalist American, Michael King of Fairleigh Dickinson, Paul Caligiuri of NCAA champion UCLA and Erich Eichman of Clemson.
At Duke, Kain broke all scoring records. His balanced career marks of 51 goals and 45 assists both were Duke records at the time of his graduation, while his 147 career points still sits atop the Duke records book.
The games noted above are not meant to be a complete listing of Duke's events on these dates, but a sampling of great moments as determined by the GoDuke.com staff.
