DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University women's basketball head coach
Kara Lawson has announced the signing of Lee Volker to a National Letter of Intent and will join the Blue Devils for the 2021-22 campaign. Â
"We are excited to have Lee Volker and her family join our program," said Lawson. "She is the type of person and player that will help us establish our hardworking identity. She comes from competitive high school and AAU programs in an area I have a deep respect for. I can't wait to coach her starting next fall."
Volker, who hails from Purcellville, Va., attends St. Paul VI Catholic High School and is a three-time All-State selection. The 6-1 guard is coming off averaging 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.9 assists as a junior, while being named the VISSA Division I Player of the Year. Volker also earned WCAC Co-Player of the Year, All-WCAC First Team and VISSA Division I First Team All-State a year ago. Â
She has helped lead her St. Paul VI Catholic High School squad to back-to-back state championships and a 55-12 record over her two years as a varsity starter. Â
As a junior, Volker totaled one double-double and two contests with 20 or more points in 2019-20. She scored a season-high 22 points to go along with seven steals and two rebounds against Stone Ridge. Volker also added 21 points, four rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks in the season opener versus Carroll. She hit 49.2 percent of her field goals and 42.5 percent from downtown.
In 2019-20, St. Paul VI Catholic collected a 30-4 record and earned a top 10 national ranking.
Volker competed as a sophomore on the varsity team and averaged 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.9 steals. She earned All-WCAC Second Team along with VISSA Division I First Team All-State accolades. Â
On the road at O'Connell, Volker collected a season-high 22 points along with five steals, two rebounds and one assist her sophomore season. She notched double-digit scoring in seven different contests. Volker helped her team to a 25-8 overall record.
Volker received All-League Second Team, All-District Second Team and All-State honors as a freshman at Loudoun Valley High School.
