DURHAM, N.C. – The United Soccer Coaches Association has announced its academic awards for 2019-20 and for the 18th consecutive year, Duke women's soccer has earned the Team Academic Award for its exemplary performance in the classroom.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster in the 2019-20 academic year.
Duke was one of 556 women's college teams to earn the award.
The Blue Devils excelled academically a year ago with returning student-athletes
Brooke Heinsohn,
Karlie Paschall,
Delaney Graham,
Marykate McGuire,
Mackenzie Pluck and
Sophie Jones earning All-ACC Academic Team honors. As a team, Duke collected a 3.501 grade-point average in the Fall and then closed with a 3.858 average in the Spring.
Duke has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 201, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The Blue Devils (1-1-2) continue their 2020 campaign next Sunday, Oct. 4 as they face third-ranked Clemson at 5 p.m., live on ACC Network.
