DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke field hockey team had six named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the 2019 season, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.
Standouts for the Blue Devils include senior
Margaux Paolino and redshirt senior
Sammi Steele who garnered All-Academic accolades for the fourth time in their careers at Duke. Senior
Jillian Wolgemuth was named to the team for the second straight year while
Haley Schleicher,
Hannah Miller and Leah Crouse were all placed on the squad for the first time.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most release season are also considered in selecting the team.
During the 2019 campaign, the Blue Devils accumulated a 3.517 team GPA while three student-athletes were named to the Dean's List.
Since the award team was created in 2007, Duke has received 96 All-ACC Academic Team selections, including 70 during head coach
Pam Bustin's tenure.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
