DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's lacrosse team begins the year tabbed the No. 21 team in the nation, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced in the first IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll released by the organization on Monday.

Kerstin Kimel returns 27 letterwinners and eight starters from her 11-8 team a year ago that finished ranked No. 21 in the IWLCA polls. The Blue Devils averaged over 15 goals per contest and were among the nation's leaders at the draw. Of Duke's 19 games last season, 10 were against ranked opponents.
The ACC placed seven teams in the top-25 rankings to lead all conferences.
Throughout 2020, the Blue Devils are scheduled to face 10 ranked opponents, including six of the top eight. Duke will go up against No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Northwestern, No. 4 Syracuse, No. 5 Boston College, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 8 Virginia, No. 12 Penn, No. 15 Navy, No. 23 Virginia Tech and No. 25 High Point.
Duke holds its season opener in Koskinen Stadium on Friday Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. as the Blue Devils host Gardner-Webb. Two days later, Sunday Feb. 9, Duke hosts No. 3 Northwestern at noon. Tickets for all Duke women's lacrosse games can be purchased
