DURHAM, N.C. – After eight days away from competition, the fifth-ranked Duke women's tennis team will welcome Elon Wednesday, Jan. 22, to Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center for the Blue Devils' home opener.
The match, slated for a 3 p.m. start, marks the fifth consecutive season that the Blue Devils will begin their dual match home slate against the Phoenix.
Last season, the fourth-ranked Blue Devils won a 7-0 contest in Durham. Duke leads the all-time series 4-0 and has never dropped a point to Elon. The Blue Devils will also look to improve to 39-6 against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opponents.
The Phoenix are 1-2 in the early 2020 season with their lone victory coming against North Carolina A&T (7-0). Elon dropped a 7-0 matchup in Chapel Hill against No. 2 North Carolina to open the season before a 5-2 setback to Charleston Southern.
Fifth-ranked Duke opened the season on a high note by blanking Grand Canyon, 7-0, last Tuesday in Phoenix, Ariz.

Wednesday's contest marks the first of 11 home matches this year for Duke. The team owns an impressive 106-8 (.929) home record over the past nine seasons.
Duke tallied a perfect 14-0 mark in Ambler Stadium and Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center during the 2018-19 campaign as they bested eight ranked opponents.
Duke welcomes three foes ranked in the ITA preseason top 25 to Durham this season and will face four on the road.
