Â
Duke lost seven of its nine available starters last season due to graduation or redshirt.
Â
Of those seven were four brothers, two sets of twins in the Finesilver family. Josh and
Matt Finesilver are both redshirting for the 2019-20 campaign, while the Blue Devils lost the other half of the Finesilver duo (Mitch and Zach) to graduation. The four brothers and now redshirt sophomore Ben Anderson, all qualified for the NCAA Tournament just a season ago.
Â
MAKE WAY FOR WADE
At 149 pounds, freshman
Wade Unger has been a bright spot for the Blue Devils during his opening season.
Â
The Montvale, N.J., native holds a 9-9 overall record heading into the weekend. He registered his highest placement at the Mountaineer Invitational on Nov. 9 when he finished the event 3-1 for second place.
Â
EAGLINS STEPS INTO LIMELIGHT
Despite this being his first full year in the Duke Blue and White,
Mason Eaglin has quickly become Duke's leader on the mat.
Â
Eaglin has compiled an overall record of 14-6, including an impressive 11-2 mark during tournament bouts.
Â
He is also the only Duke wrestler to take down a ranked opponent this season and he did it in back-to-back matches.
Â
The Port Orchard, Wash., native dropped No. 10 Dean Sherry of Rider before defeating No. 29 Neal Richards of VMI to go on to take the title at the Keystone Classic.
Â
Eaglin sits with a 3-4 mark in dual action, having recorded 10 of Duke's 13 points so far this season.
Â
CAREER WINS
Redshirt sophomore Ben Anderson has 20 career wins to his name, including a pin of No. 32 Alexander Klucker of Lock Haven during last year's NCAA Championships.
Â
This season Anderson has struggled to stay healthy, dropping three bouts by way of a medical forfeit.
Â
Mason Eaglin follows Anderson closely with 19 career wins to his name. The redshirt freshman holds an overall record of 19-10, including a 16-6 mark in tournament play.
