DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team fell to No. 23 Florida State 3-1 (25-27, 21-25, 25-23, 15-25) Friday evening to open ACC play in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Gracie Johnson,
Ade Owokoniran and
Lauren Cline combined for 35 kills while setter
Camille Nazor dished 36 assists on the evening.
The first two sets were back-and-forth battles between the two squads with the Seminoles edging out the win in both before Duke fought back with a 25-23 victory to take the third set. The Blue Devils hit .314 in the third frame with just four attack errors and notched two service aces from Johnson and Owokoniran.
The Blue Devils came out flat in the fourth and what would be the final set as the Seminoles hit .423 percent as Morgan Chacon added seven kills with no errors to hit .875.
Duke hit .203 for the game and
Lily Cooper,
Lizzie Fleming, Cline and Johnson all added three blocks each for seven total team blocks.
Offensively, Florida State was led by Payton Caffrey with a double-double with 20 kills and 12 digs.
Duke will remain at home to welcome Miami Sunday for a 1 p.m., match in Cameron.
