DURHAM, N.C. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named the Duke men's and women's swimming and diving programs to its Scholar All-America team for the spring 2019 semester, as announced by the organization Tuesday.
The Blue Devil women tied for second among ACC institutions with a 3.53 combined grade point average for the semester while the men led all conference teams with a 3.49 team grade point average.
Five conferences - the A-10, Ivy League, Colonial Athletic Association, Mid-American and Big XII - placed every men's team onto the honor roll, while the ACC, placed the most teams on the list with 10.
To be eligible for Scholar All-America recognition, teams had to finish with a semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
“[Head] Coach [Dan] Colella has built a program that succeeds in one of the most challenging academic and athletic environments anywhere,” said CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart.
