DURHAM, N.C. – The V4 boat for the Duke rowing team was named ACC Crew of the Week for its two top-two finishes, including a first-place showing, last weekend at the Big Ten/ACC Dual.
The V4 crew of Rani Duff (Cox), Amelia Shunk (Stroke), Elizabeth Butero, Anne Klok and Tara Christensen (Bow) outraced nationally ranked opponents No. 7 Ohio State and No. 17 Syracuse in the morning session on Lake Monticello in Charlottesville, Va., clocking a time of 7:25.2, just over two seconds faster than the second-place Buckeye boat.
In the afternoon race, the same boat took second behind No. 6 Michigan with a time of 7:31.9, nearly 18 seconds faster than third-place Syracuse.
This is the third time this season the Blue Devils have been recognized as ACC Crew of the Week. On March 13, the 2V4 crew earned the nod after a first-place finish in the Carolina Cup. Two weeks later, Duke's 2V8 boat placed first at the Cooper Sprints and was recognized by the conference on March 28.
The No. 15 Blue Devils next compete in the two-day Clemson Invitational, starting on Friday, April 19 and concluding Saturday, April 20.
