BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Duke track & field program opened the split weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge and at the JDL DMR Invitational as senior Iyin Battle recorded a school-record toss in the men's weight throw competition in Blacksburg.
Battle rewrote his own school record Friday evening with a second-place toss of 18.55m. Teammate Ben Beatty secured the fourth-best mark in Duke history with a 16.76 mark.
Liz Lansing, Lauren Hoffman, Brittany Aveni and Kim Hallowes teamed up for the women's invitational distance medley relay (DMR) in Winston-Salem at the JDL Invitational and posted a season-best time of 11:15.14 for a fourth-place finish. That time currently ranks 10th in the country and second in the ACC.
In addition to Battle and Beatty, Stefani Vukajlovic competed in the weight throw for the women and placed fourth as she tossed the implement 18.40m.
