DURHAM, N.C. – Following another impressive season, head coach
Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to now welcome the 2020 recruiting class. Left-handed pitcher and outfielder
Luke Fox is a part of the talented group set to arrive in Durham next fall.
"Luke Fox is a tremendous all-round student athlete," said Pollard. "A back-to-back state champion I football from Waukesha, he led their team as a quarterback. He's a left-handed pitcher, also an outfielder, so he and Josh Allen are very similar in terms of their ability to help us both in the outfield but also on the mound. I think Luke has a chance to have an electric changeup. He can have a big-time swing and miss changeup kind of like
Matt Dockman."
A four-year letterwinner at Catholic Memorial High School, Fox comes to Durham from Waukesha, Wisc. Fox enjoyed an impressive junior campaign, being named the 2019 Classic 8 Conference Player of the Year, while also receiving All-State honors and being tabbed as a finalist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Area Player of the Year. As a freshman, the southpaw was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Wisconsin Baseball Central Newcomer of the Year.
A multi-sport athlete, Fox also competed in track and basketball at Catholic Memorial, while being a decorated football player. He was named the Classic 8 Conference Player of the Year, while leading his team to a D4 state championship his junior season at quarterback and being selected as the state championship MVP. This past season, Fox captured a second consecutive state championship for Catholic Memorial, becoming the first Milwaukee-area quarterback to win two state football titles as the starter since 1993-94.
Fox is regarded as a top-500 national prospect according to Perfect Game, while being listed as the No. 105 left-handed pitcher in the country. Additionally, the organization lists Fox as the 10
th-best player in the state of Wisconsin, and the second-rated southpaw in the state.
Fox is part of Duke's 12-member 2020 recruiting class. GoDuke.com is set to release details on all 12 of the newest Blue Devils in the coming weeks.
