DURHAM, N.C. – Two Blue Devil swimmers and divers improved their placements in program Top-10 lists during the home meet against Georgia on Oct. 26.
After etching her name in the record books during her first collegiate meet, freshman
Emma Shuppert improved on her time in the 100 backstroke to jump up one spot, ninth to eighth, in Duke history in the event. The Cincinnati native swam a 54.85 against Georgia to set a career best.
Junior
Zach Washart set a career best in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:18.74, a 0.75 second improvement. With the improvement, Washart improved in the Top-10 list, from seventh to sixth.
In addition to individual records being set, the women's 200 medley relay team of Shuppert, junior
Halle Morris, senior
Alyssa Marsh and sophomore
Melissa Pish etched their names in ninth in the Duke history books with a time of 1:39.44.
13 Duke freshmen set career-best times across 19 events from the meet against Florida State to the Georgia meet.

Will Tenpas led the men's side with two each. For the women,
Ali Watson and
Alex Bumpas each set two career-bests.
Duke returns to the pool Friday in Massachusetts with a quad meet against Connecticut and Dartmouth at Boston College. The meet will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The next day, Duke faces Harvard and Texas A&M (men only) in Cambridge, Mass., on the campus of Harvard.
