A tough third quarter Sunday afternoon in Cameron Indoor Stadium led to a 63-42 Northwestern victory over Duke in women's basketball non-conference action in Durham, N.C.
After outscoring Northwestern (3-0), 14-6, in the second quarter to even the score at the half, the Wildcats outscored the Blue Devils, 29-4, in the third quarter to take a 61-36 lead through three quarters. Duke could not recover from the deficit in the final frame. The loss snapped a 15-game winning streak for Duke at home against non-conference foes.
The Blue Devils were led by junior Jade Williams with 11 points, while graduate Haley Gorecki added 10 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Coach P: "Sometimes things don't go your way or don't go exactly as you want them to... whatever it is, the resilience you have to have has to be incredibly intense at this level... We didn't show a lot of resiliency. They deserve all the credit for that game and what they did." pic.twitter.com/vWKnF14zjs
