DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its first signee for the 2020-21 recruiting class as epeeist
Chloe Beittel signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Blue Devils last week.
A native of San Leandro, Calif., Beittel is currently a senior at Head Royce School. As an epeeist, Beittel trains at the East Bay Fencers Gym under Abdul Habek.
Beittel has had success on the national circuit with her most recent outing being a ninth-place finish at the 2019 November North American Cup (NAC) in junior women's epee. At the 2019 National Championships & July Challenge, the epeeist captured third in the Division IA event before her 14th-place finish at the 2019 February Junior Olympics.
The Blue Devils will open the 2020 slate Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Penn State Duals in State College, Pa.
