BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Duke women's cross country team placed ninth at the ACC Championships at the 6k Buford Meredith Cross Country Course on the campus of Virginia Tech Friday morning.
Duke totaled 202 points out of the 15 team field. NC State earned first place with 64 points, followed by Florida State in second (76) and Notre Dame in third (116).
Junior Michaela Reinhart finished first for the Blue Devils, marking the third year in a row she has paced Duke at the ACC Championships. Reinhart finished 22nd with a time of 21:25.0. Senior Lindsay Billings finished next for Duke, earning 32nd with a time of 21:39.6.
"Michaela had a great race finishing first for our team today," said head coach Rhonda Riley. "The ACC is a tough conference and we will learn from this race moving forward."
Junior's Sara Platek and Helen Williams finished back-to-back, as Platek's time of 21:58.9 and Williams' 21:59.6 were good for 47th and 48th, respectively. Finishing out the top-five for Duke was sophomore Elizabeth Reneau, who clocked a time of 22:14.2 for 60th place.
Junior Leigha Torino earned 63rd with a time of 22:16.6, while redshirt senior Gabrielle Richichi placed 91st (22:47.8). Rounding out the Blue Devil squad was senior Sarah Armstrong in 99th (22:58.5) and freshman Emily Cole in 103rd (23:05.7).
Duke returns to action in Blacksburg a week from today as it takes part in the Hokie Open starting at 4:30 p.m. on November 8.
