DURHAM, NC – Duke Swimming and Diving will hold its annual Blue vs. White Meet on Saturday morning in Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion on the campus of Duke University. The meet will begin at approximately 8 a.m.
"It's been the honeymoon period where everybody is excited about the start of school," head coach
Dan Colella said. "During the first five or six weeks we've had some really productive training and great attitudes. Everyone is excited to finally get to do some racing this weekend and open up next Saturday with Florida State."
The meet will see the Duke Swimming and Diving team being split into two teams, the Blue team and the White team, and competing against one another. No official times will be kept at the meet and results will not be published. Fans are invited to come to the meet and cheer on the Blue Devils student-athletes in the pool.
"We lost some big talent last year to graduation but from what we have seen from the freshmen this year, they are ready to fill those shoes," Colella said. "The upperclassmen are training at a much higher level than they were a year ago and we are very excited about that."
Duke will appear in two meets during the month of October to start the season. The Blue Devils open the season with an ACC tilt on Oct. 12 at Florida State. This is the first time the Duke Blue and White will face the Seminoles since October 2017, when the women won 192.5-160.5 and the men fell by a 145-208 margin.
The Blue Devils return home to Taishoff on Oct. 26 as the Georgia Bulldogs come visit Durham for the first time since January 1981. This is the second meeting between Duke and Georgia with the Bulldogs taking the first one 50-59 on the men's side and 50-90 on the women's.
