DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's swimming and diving team jumped up five spots from the preseason poll to the first poll of the season that was released Wednesday by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.
The Blue Devils began the season with the women ranked 22nd and the men not being ranked in the preseason poll put out by the CSCAA. In Wednesday's poll, the women jumped to 17th while the men received votes to sit right outside the top 25.
Duke opened the season at Florida State, where it split meets with the Seminoles. The women topped the 23rd-ranked Florida State women 177-123 to start the season with an ACC victory. On the men's side, the Blue Devils raced the 15th-ranked hosts close, with the meet being tied going into the last relay. The Seminoles ended up winning 153-147.
Up next for the Blue Devils, Duke hosts Georgia for its annual Pink Meet on Saturday at Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion. The Bulldogs enter the meet ranked 14th in men's and 12th in women's in the most recent poll. Diving will begin at 10 a.m. before swimming events begin at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
