DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke rowing team will conclude its fall slate this weekend, heading to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the Rivanna Romp on Sunday
The Blue Devils will send a haul of boats into action their final weekend of the fall with five varsity 8+, five varsity 4+, and a pair of novice 8+ boats. The varsity 8+ boats will begin the day's competition at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity 4+ boats at 12:30 p.m., and the novice 8+ boats at 12:35 p.m.
Duke has captured six top-five finishes so far this fall, with four of those coming from novice crews. Most recently, the novices saw great success at the Head of the Hooch last weekend, with all three competing boats coming away with a top-10 finish. The Blue Devils' top novice 4+ crew notched a first-place finish in a time of 17:03.269, while the second crew finished closely behind in fourth place with a time of 17:40.733.
The Rivanna Romp will take place at the Rivanna Reservoir, which is located just outside of Charlottesville, Va., and will include several other schools from across the region. The regatta is organized and hosted by the University of Virginia. The Blue Devils look to continue their success, after posting three top-five finishes a year ago, including a first-place finish from the top varsity 4+ boat last fall.
Sunday's race will mark the end of the fall season for the Duke rowing team.
