BUDAPEST, Hungary – Former Duke University diver Jaimee Gundry competed in the preliminaries of the women's 10-meter platform diving event Tuesday at the 2017 FINA World Aquatic Championships.
Representing her native country of South Africa, Gundry placed 35th in preliminaries with a score of 230.60. She wrapped up her list with her highest-scoring dive of the day, receiving 54.40 points on an armstand back double somersault with one-and-one-half twists.
A 2017 graduate of Duke, Gundry made her third FINA World Aquatic Championships appearance after previously competing at the event in 2015 and 2013.
Coming off of a 10th-place showing in the women's open water 10K swimming event Sunday, fellow Blue Devil alumna and U.S. national team member Ashley Twichell will be back in action at the World Championships Wednesday in the 5K race. Also competing in Budapest will be rising senior Isabella Paez, who will swim for Venezuela in the women's 100 and 200-meter butterfly events next week.
