KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Duke track & field program concluded competition at the Tennessee Relays with two marks breaking into Duke's all-time list and 20 top-10 finishes in the meet this weekend.
“Two really fine relays on the final day here in Tennessee,” said head coach Norm Ogilvie. “Winning the sprint medley relay was fun to watch and that demonstrated Matt Wisner's racing savvy on the anchor leg. Especially good leadoff leg for Kim Hallowes in the distance medley relay, and we are looking forward to seeing them improve before competing in that event at the Penn Relays in a couple weeks. Jeremy McDuffie also had an outstanding weekend as an individual performer.”
Sophomore Duke football player Jeremy McDuffie continued his strong weekend today as a leg of the first-place finishing men's sprint medley relay. McDuffie, Tionne Barmer, Dylan Murphy and Matt Wisner clocked in at 3:23.00, the third-fastest time in Duke history. Murphy and Wisner's confirmed split times in the 400m and 800m were 48.10 and 1:50.50, respectively.
McDuffie also competed in the men's triple jump today to round out his solid performance in all three of his events. McDuffie posted a mark of 50-8.75 (15.46) to claim third on his final jump.
Kim Hallowes, India Lowe, Brittany Aveni and Liz Lansing represented Duke in the women's distance medley relay and stopped the clock in 11:30.02 to place second.
Sophomore Domonique Panton hit the sand in 38-1.25 (11.61) during the women's triple jump competition and came away with 10th place.
Rounding out the Blue Devils' performances today in Tennessee was high jump specialists Colt Sessions and Rivers Ridout. Sessions and Ridout each cleared 6-7.50 (2.02) to place fifth and eighth, respectively.
The Blue Devils will have a quick turnaround as they are set to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays Wednesday, April 12-15 in Cerritos, Calif.
