Setting the Scene...
Coming off an eight-day break for final exams, the Duke women's basketball team (8-2) will host Maine (6-5) Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Tuesday's contest will be aired live on the ACC Network Extra. It will also be carried on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network via 620 AM, 99.3 FM, 96.5 FM, TuneIn Radio app and www.GoDuke.com with Chris Edwards on the air beginning at 6:45 p.m.
What is Next?...
Duke will have a quick turnaround as the Blue Devils will host Wyoming Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m., prior to heading home for the Christmas holiday. The squad will have five days before reporting back to campus for practice, before hosting Liberty on Dec. 29.
Three Keys...
• In her first start of the 2017-18 season and second of her career, Haley Gorecki registered a career-high 20 points, while hitting 5-of-7 three-pointers, grabbing three rebounds and dishing four assists in 29 minutes against Winthrop.
• Duke has won 14 straight home games in the month of December. The Blue Devils have won 22 out of its last 23 home contests in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The lone loss was to Oregon in the 2017 NCAA Tournament second round.
• In her 11th year with the Blue Devils and 26th overall season as a head coach, Joanne P. McCallie is only three wins shy of reaching the 600-win mark.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• Duke leads the ACC in paint defense, only allowing 18.2 points in the paint per game.
• Fifth-year senior Rebecca Greenwell missed the Winthrop contest with knee pain and is listed as day-to-day.
• The Blue Devils have won 21 straight games when hitting the 70-point mark.
• Over the last two games, Lexie Brown has averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 7.0 steals. She has hit 64.7 percent of her field goals and 36.4 percent from downtown.
• Duke is coming off hitting a season-high 60.9 percent from the field and dishing a season-high 25 assists. The Blue Devils have registered 49 assists and swiped 32 steals over the last two games.
• Duke has hit only 11-of-20 free throws over the last two contests (55.0).
• After scoring a combined 30 points against Old Dominion and Oregon State, Leaonna Odom has gone four straight contests without scoring double-digits. She has averaged only 7.0 points and 5.8 rebounds the last four games.
• Over the last two games, Duke has come out of the gate on fire hitting 62.0 percent from the field in the first half and averaged 48.0 points. Lexie Brown has averaged 14.0 points in the first half and hit 75.0 percent from the field over the last two contests.
• Rebecca Greenwell has been limited to 6-of-18 field goals and 0-of-7 from three-point land over the last two games. It marked only the second time in her career she has been held without a three-pointer in back-to-back contests.
• Blue Devil redshirt senior Rebecca Greenwell needs two three-pointers made to break Duke's all-time treys mark of 252 held by Tricia Liston (2011-14). Greenwell owns 251 in 107 games.
• Lexie Brown has swiped 14 steals the last two games and ranks ninth nationally (1st in ACC) with a 3.7 per game average. Her 37 steals is the fourth-most among power five conferences.
• On two occasions this season, Lexie Brown has nearly registered a triple-double. Against UNCG, she had 20 points, nine assists, a career-high tying eight steals and seven rebounds. At ODU, she had 28 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.
• Leaonna Odom (57.8) and Erin Mathias (54.1) rank fourth and 10th, respectively, in the ACC field goal percentage.
• The Blue Devils currently lead the ACC and rank 12th nationally with a 40.5 three-point field goal percentage.
• Rebecca Greenwell became just the 11th player in Duke history to reach the 1,600-point mark with her 19 points against Ohio State. She needs only two points to move into a tie for 10th place on the Duke career list along with Georgia Schweitzer (1,620).
• Rebecca Greenwell and Lexie Brown have combined to score 3,265 points and drain 463 three-pointers over their career, which leads the ACC among active players.
• Duke has featured only 13 or fewer turnovers in each of the last three games, including only 10 versus UNC Greensboro.
• Lexie Brown of Duke (20.0 points, 4th; 5.2 assists, 5th) and Paris Kea of North Carolina (21.1 points, 1st; 7.2 assists, 3rd) are the only two players in the ACC to rank in the top five in both points and assists.
• Duke (73.07) will feature over a three-inch height advantage when the Blue Devils play Maine Sunday (70.46). The Golden Bears feature three players standing 6-2 or taller, while Duke has seven student-athletes.
• Rebecca Greenwell became the first Duke player to amass 1,500 points, 600 rebounds and 200 made three-pointers at Villanova. Greenwell could also become the third guard in Blue Devil history to register 1,500 points and 700 rebounds along with Monique Currie and Alana Beard. Greenwell currently owns 1,618 points and 637 rebounds.
• Lexie Brown has played in the ACC for two different teams (2013-14 at Maryland; 2016-17 at Duke) and holds the best career free throw percentage in those contests (88.1). Duke's Nicole Erickson ranks second with an 88.0 mark.
• Rebecca Greenwell's 251 three-pointers over her career ranks tied 14th on the ACC career charts and needs two more to move into 10th.
• Graduate transfer Bego Faz Davalos owns 353 career blocks and needs only six to move into a tie for 27th on the NCAA all-time blocks list.
• All 29 of Duke's 2017-18 contests will be aired on some type of television between ESPN3, ACC Network Extra, ESPN2, RSN-TV, SEC Network and Nova Nation.

A Look at Maine...
Maine enters the contest with a 6-5 overall record and had its two-game winning streak snapped at fifth-ranked Mississippi State Sunday with an 83-43 loss.
On the season, Bianca Millan (16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds), Julie Brosseau (12.4 points, 25 treys) and Tanesha Sutton (10.9 points, 7.2 rebounds) have paced the Golden Bears.
The Series with Maine...
Duke plays Maine in Cameron Indoor Stadium Tuesday in its third all-time meeting and second contest at home. The Blue Devils boast a 2-0 series record against the Black Bears, with victories in 2008 and 2009.
In the two games, Duke averaged 86.5 points and held Maine to an average of 32.5 points.
Duke Versus the America East Conference...
Duke features a record of 8-1 against the America East Conference – Albany (3-0), Hartford (0-1), Maine (2-0), UMass Lowell (1-0), New Hampshire (1-0), and Stony Brook (1-0). The Blue Devils have won six straight contests against the America East. Coach P holds a mark of 51-15 against opponents in the America East – Albany (3-0), Hartford (15-4), Maine (2-0), New Hampshire (14-3), Stony Brook (1-0), UMass Lowell (1-0), and Vermont (15-8). Her current winning streak against America East is six games.
Hey, I Know You...
Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie will go up against her former player, Amy Vachon, who is the interim head coach for Maine. Vachon was a point guard for Maine and was a member of the Golden Bear squad that upset Stanford in the first round of the 1999 NCAA Tournament. She was a two-time captain under McCallie and posted an 87-35 record. Her teams won back-to-back America East Championships in 1996-97 and 1997-98.
McCallie was the head coach at Maine for eight seasons beginning in 1992-93. She helped lead the squad to seven straight 20-win seasons six NCAA Tournament appearances. Coach P posted an overall record of 167-73 at Maine.
Gorecki Shines in Start...
Making her first start of the season and second of her collegiate career, redshirt sophomore Haley Gorecki tallied a career-high 20 points in 29 minutes against Winthrop prior to exam break.
She hit a career-high 5-of-7 treys and 7-of-11 field goals, while tallying four assists and three rebounds.
On the season, Gorecki has hit nine of her 12 three-pointers in Cameron.
Boykin to Miss Remainder of 2017-18...
Duke freshman guard Mikayla Boykin will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after suffering a left knee injury in the Blue Devils' 101-30 win over Winthrop Sunday, Dec. 10.
Boykin started the first eight contests of the season and averaged 4.6 points, 3.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game. The 5-9 guard from Clinton, N.C., opened her collegiate career on the road at Grand Canyon with a season-high 12 points and was a preseason ACC Newcomer Watch List selection.
Mathias Continues to Play Big...
In the last four games, senior Erin Mathias averaged 14.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. She has drained 63.6 percent of her field goals during this stretch. This included a then career-high 16 points at South Carolina and a career-high 24 points against UNC Greensboro. Against the Spartans, Mathias hit a career-high 12-of-18 field goals.
Mathias had totaled three straight games with double-digit scoring for the first time in her career.
Going against one of the best post players in the nation, Stephanie Mavunga of Ohio State, Mathias registered her second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes. She also helped limit Mavunga to only seven points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes.
At Home in 2017-18...
Duke boasts a 6-0 record at home this season, including two victories over ranked opponents.
Lexie Brown (21.7 points), Rebecca Greenwell (15.0 points), Leaonna Odom (11.3 points) and Erin Mathias (10.0 points) have paced the Blue Devils in those games. Brown has hit 13-of-28 for a 46.4 percentage. Odom is pulling down 8.2 rebounds as well, while hitting 69.4 percent from the field.
As a team, Duke is averaging 80.5 points and hitting 53.2 percent from the field in Cameron.
