DURHAM, N.C. – In this episode of Duke baseball's Workout Wednesday, hitting coach Jason Stein demonstrates the three-plate drill with junior shortstop Zack Kone.
Using the team's batting cages at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Stein set up three different plates: the front to mimic a hard fastball, the middle to simulate an in between pitch, and the third to imitate an offspeed pitch. The batting practice pitcher then tries to have the exact same arm action so the hitter has to work on timing.
Duke opens the 2018 season with a three-game series at Vanderbilt, Feb. 16-18. The team also holds its Sixth Annual First Pitch Banquet Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018.
