DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University redshirt freshman quarterback Daniel Jones was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week after spearheading the Blue Devils to a 38-35 road win over Notre Dame as Duke rallied from deficits of 14 points in the first quarter and seven points in the fourth quarter.
Jones completed 24-of-32 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns. He engineered Duke's game-winning 10-play, 44-yard drive, which culminated in freshman AJ Reed's 19-yard field goal with 1:24 remaining in the game. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Jones threw a 64-touchdown pass to redshirt senior wide receiver Anthony Nash to tie the game, 35-35, with 6:47 left.
For the game, Jones matched the school single-game record for touchdown passes of 20 or more yards with scoring tosses to Nash (32 and 64 yards) and redshirt junior Quay Chambers (25 yards).
Duke (2-2, 0-1 ACC) hosts Virginia (1-3, 0-0 ACC) Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff on the ACC Network.
