6 Blue Devils Named to Team USA; 2 Voted All-MLL

DURHAM, N.C.—Six former Blue Devils are among the 44 players selected by U.S. Lacrosse and U.S. men's senior team head coach John Danowski for the upcoming exhibition game Sept. 11. In addition on Friday, two Blue Devils were among the 13 players voted to the All-MLL team as voted by the league's head coaches.
The U.S. game will be a part of the US Lacrosse Grand Opening celebration weekend. They will play an intra-squad scrimmage as part of a tripleheader on Sept. 11 at the new US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
The six Blue Devils chosen range from players who graduated in 2008 to those who earned their diplomas this past May. Matt Danowski is the elder statesman of the group, while Ned Crotty returns to for the chance to make a third straight world championship roster. Matt is one of eight players picked who graduated prior to 2010.
One of two 2016 graduates, Myles Jones is the youngest of the group. Brendan Fowler '14, Will Haus '15 and Michael Manley '12 round out the Duke contingent on the roster. Manley recently was named the Major League Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Year. All six of the Blue Devils are top players in the MLL.
Representing Duke on the All-MLL team are Jordan Wolf and Manley. It marks the second time since 2010 two former Blue Devils have been voted to the prestigious team as Wolf captures the honor for the second straight season and Manley picks up his second in three seasons.
The tripleheader featuring U.S. Lacrosse teams opens with the U.S. women's team at 10 a.m., features the U.S. men's team at 1 p.m. and closes with a special exhibition between the lacrosse teams from the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD) at 4 p.m.
