DURHAM, N.C. – In late March, the Duke rowing team went to Bull City Fit to make its donation following the team's annual fundraiser. The Blue Devils raised nearly $7,000 for the local nonprofit organization.
Blue Devil Network caught up with senior captains Simone Pitre and Lauren Miranda, as well as head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno, to discuss the donation and fundraising effort.
Bull City Fit was founded in 2012 and is a community-based wellness program for patients and families of the Duke Children's Healthy Lifestyles Program. Bull City Fit puts together a wide variety of activities to encourage and promote active living and help fight childhood obesity, including fitness instruction, dance, sports, moderated peer support group sessions, gardening, cooking classes and more.
