DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke baseball associate head coach Josh Jordan was rated among the nation's top 30 recruiting coordinators according to D1Baseball's survey of Division I baseball coaches. Jordan tied with Dallas Baptist's Dan Fitzgerald for 17th on the list, which measured the ballots of 124 DI head coaches.
“I am proud to see Josh recognized by his peers for his talent and work ethic,” said head coach Chris Pollard. “As I have said many times, out on the recruiting circuit Josh is widely recognized as one of the top recruiters in the country. I have witnessed firsthand for the past 11 years the tremendous effort and passion he puts into his job each and every day. He embodies the type of grit and determination that we want, and expect, to be a pervasive quality throughout our program.”
Jordan joined the Blue Devil staff in June of 2012 and has helped bring in top level talent during each of his first four years in Durham. Duke reaped the benefits of Jordan's efforts this past season, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid since 1961.
Baseball America rated Duke's 2016 recruiting class No. 25 nationally, marking the second time in program history the publication ranked Duke among its top 25 recruiting classes. Eight players in Duke's 2015 class ranked among Perfect Game's top 500 prospects in the country, while the Blue Devils' 2014 recruiting class ranked No. 16 in the nation according to Perfect Game.
Over the past three years, six Duke commits – junior Justin Bellinger, junior Chris McGrath, sophomore Griffin Conine, freshman Adam Laskey, freshman Matt Mervis and first-round selection Will Benson – were picked in the Major League Baseball Draft coming out of high school.
Jordan and the Blue Devils open the 2017 campaign Feb. 17 against Oregon State in Surprise, Ariz.
