DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University's Koskinen Stadium will serve as the host for the 2017 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship April 28-30 as announced at the Atlantic Coast Conference's annual fall meetings.
The top four seeds following the regular season will compete for the title beginning with the semifinals on Friday, April 28, and concluding with the championship game on Sunday, April 30. The Blue Devils last hosted the event in 2011, falling to former ACC member Maryland in the title game.
The ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship was last held on a campus in 2013 at North Carolina. The past three tournaments were held at neutral sites PPL Park in Chester, Pa. (2014 & 2015) and in Kennesaw, Ga., in 2016.
Duke has won seven ACC Championship titles with the most recent coming in 2012. The Blue Devils have advanced to the championship game in each of the past two seasons before falling to Syracuse. The ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship started in 1989 and Duke captured its first crown in 1995.
Now in his 10th season as head coach, John Danowski will look to fill the spots of 15 seniors who graduated, including four of the team's top six scorers. The Blue Devils return a host of top talent from a year ago, including 2016 leading scorer Justin Guterding and faceoff specialist Kyle Rowe. Defensively, Duke welcomes back its core of veteran players, including long pole seniors Ethan Powley, Ian Yanulis and Brian Dunne. In addition, Duke's class of rookies was tabbed the best in the country by Inside Lacrosse.
