
Duke Opens Wolfpack Invite With Six Wins

RALEIGH, N.C. – A trip to the Red Draw doubles finals and three singles victories highlighted Duke's opening day at the Wolfpack Invite, hosted by N.C. State. Senior TJ Pura and sophomore Jason Lapidus went 2-0 in doubles play to reach Saturday's championship while all three Blue Devils participating in singles won their matches.
Duke began the day with doubles as both Blue Devil pairs played in the Red Draw. Pura and Lapidus downed Chris Humphreys and Petar Tomic of Elon in the opening round and captured an 8-6 victory. The Duke duo marched to Saturday's championship with another 8-6 triumph, this against the draw's No. 2 seed of Alexis Galarneau and Nick Horton of N.C. State. Pura and Lapidus face Mario Paccini and Neal Port of Elon in the title tilt.
Freshman Robert Levine and sophomore Ryan Dickerson went 1-1 Friday in doubles, falling 8-6 to Paccini and Port in the opening round before bouncing back with an 8-3 victory against James Madison's Sebastian Salinas and Damon Roberts. Levine and Dickerson face Humphreys and Tomic in the consolation bracket championship on Saturday.
In singles, Levine was the top seed in the Red Draw with Dickerson the No. 4 seed and Pura also in the same draw. Levine took on Campbell's Fernando Clemente in the opening round and cruised 6-1, 6-1. Levine will play Roberts of James Madison in the quarterfinals Saturday. Dickerson faced Felipe Osses-Konig of Elon in the first match and registered a 6-1, 6-3 triumph to advance to play Igor Saveljic of N.C. State in Saturday's quarterfinal. Pura downed Elon's Salvador Mijares 6-4, 6-4 and faces No. 2 seed Horton of N.C. State on Saturday.
