DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt freshman left-hander James Ziemba has been tabbed to the Valley Baseball League All-Star game set for Sunday, July 12 at James Madison's Eagle Field at Veteran Memorial Park in Harrisonburg.
All-star players from the 12-team league will compete in a 60-yard dash contest, home run derby and all-star game with first pitch at 7:30 p.m. The game pits the North versus the South with Ziemba among the 25 players representing the South.
Ziemba has appeared in seven games, starting three for the Turks this summer. He owns a 2.89 ERA over 18.2 innings with 12 strikeouts. Ziemba tossed a five-inning, rain-shortened no hitter to help Harrisonburg blank Winchester 1-0 June 26.
After redshirting the 2014 campaign, Ziemba took the mound for 12 relief appearances for the Blue Devils in 2015. He posted a 0-0 record and 7.45 ERA, striking out 14 batters over 9.2 innings.
